We have one more weekend before we start hitting November invitationals. Most teams usually start to rest for those meets, but two Division III teams will not be taking it easy this Veterans Day weekend. (#1/3) Kenyon and (#3/4) Denison will be locking horns in Gambier. Kenyon will be hosting their longtime rival as the two men’s teams have combined for 37 of the last 38 total Division III national titles. Emory broke the streak last year with the school’s first title in school history. Denison broke Kenyon’s stranglehold in 2011 when they broke their winning streak. Since the turn of the decade, Kenyon has won four national titles, while Denison has won three.

Coming into this season, Kenyon ranks as the number one men’s team in the pre-season while the Denison team have arguably been the best duel meet team so far this season. Denison will be relying heavily on guys like Bebe WangStuart Hohm and Kymani Senior while Kenyon will be looking for guys like Jon ZimdarsBen Baturka and Connor Rumpit.

The Kenyon women are one spot ahead of Denison in the pre-season CSCAA poll. The women’s teams have not been as dominant as their male counterparts as Kenyon has not won a women’s title since 2009 while Denison won its only title in 2001. The Kenyon women have been one of the best Division III teams this year. They are headlined by their stellar freshman class with Crile Hart and Emmie Mirus along with junior Hannah Orbach-Mandel and senior Julia Wilson. Denison is highlighted by sophomores Katie Kustritz and Casey Kirby and senior Halli Garza. Whoever wins either meet will be in the driver’s seat for a national title in March.

Other highlights for this weekend include:

  • MIT will face Ivy League teams Cornell and Brown
  • Upstart Calvin will face Wheaton at home in non-conference action
