Division II Meet Of The Week: Lindenwood Comes Away With Three Wins Each

Lindenwood University hosted Delta State, Indianapolis, Missouri S&T, and Truman State on Saturday in a dual meet scoring format, coming away with three wins and one loss on both the men’s and women’s sides. The women fell in a close contest against Delta State, 123 – 120, while the men fell in another close match-up against the University of Indianapolis, 123 – 117.

The Lindenwood Lions only had a handful of outright event wins throughout the meet, but showcased superior depth to come out on top in multiple events in each team match-up. On the men’s side, Cristian Vasquez did lead a 1-2 sweep of the 400 IM (3:59.97) for the Lions. The Lion men were particularly strong in the sprint freestyle events, where they were led by Serghei Golban. The junior recorded winning times in the 50 (20.63) and 100 (45.92) freestyles while teammates Michal Szcukowski and Alex Leff were right behind him in the 50.

On the women’s side, Ewa Dymarek had the fastest time in the 100 breaststroke, while senior Alecia McGillvray had a second place finish in the 400 IM (4:33.45). Kamila Kunka and Ola Tomola both recorded second place finishes in the 200 free and 100 backstroke, respectively. The women finished only one place behind Delta State at last year’s NCAA meet, so expect the teams to continue jockeying for position nationally at the end of this year.

Full results from the meet can be found here. Lindenwood will compete next on November 4-5 at the Drury Invitational.
