DAYTONA BEACH, Florida, December 10. IN what will flow as a natural progression for the Daytona Beach swimming community, Daytona Beach Speed Swimming's head coach Steve Lochte will be named head coach of the new Daytona State College swim teams during an event held on Dec. 16.
The event will also feature Steve's son, superstar swimmer Ryan Lochte, along with Olympic gold medalist Rowdy Gaines.
Swimming and diving will add to the handful of athletics programs sponsored by Daytona State as the department already sponsors men's and women's basketball, baseball, softball and women's golf. Daytona State is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association and the Florida Community College Athletics Association Mid-Florida Conference.
