Women’s 200 Free

North Baltimore’s Easop Lee came from fifth place to steal the 200 free win from the middle of the pool on Friday night at the 2017 Speedo Junior Nationals in East Meadow, New York. Lee won with a 2:00.08 using the only sub-30 second last 50 in the field. Lee finished ahead of Brea’s Kenisa Liu (2:00.34) and Lakeside’s Lauren Pitzer (2:00.39). Pitzer was the early leader through 150 meters and ended up fading to third.

Enfinity’s Oliva Carter (2:00.67), La Mirada Armada’s Taylor Ault (2:01.08), Pleasanton’s Miranda Heckman (2:01.16), Austin’s Dakota Luther (2:01.18) and Gator’s Isabel Ivey (2:02.47) also swam in the championship final.

Lee finished 20th at the recent World Championships in this event while representing South Korea with a 1:59.38. Liu finished her freshman season at UCLA and Pitzer is also already committed to Stanford.

Ironically, Lucie Nordmann won the B-final with a 2:00.01 and would have won the overall event with that time.
