Czech Winter Championships: Jana Pechanova Posts Daily Double
PARDUBICE, Czech Republic, March 1. DURING the second day of long course competition at the Czech Winter Championships held in Pardubice, Jana Pechanova claimed a daily double.
First, Pechanova walked away with the women's 1500 free title in 17:11.32 before coming back to win the 200 free in 2:07.60. That brought her title total to three for the meet after winning the 400 free yesterday.
Petra Chocova secured her second breaststroke crown of the meet with a 1:12.38 in the 100. Yesterday, she picked up the 50 in 33.06.
For the men, Martin Verner added the 50 back crown in 26.82 to his 50 free win yesterday, while Jiri Jedlicka set himself up for a breaststroke sweep with a 1:02.79 in the 100 after claiming the 50 yesterday.
Kvetoslav Svoboda claimed the 200 free in 1:51.30 after winning the 400 free yesterday, while Michal Rubacek also doubled with a win in the 200 fly (2:01.77) on top of his 100 fly victory from the first day.
New winners on the day included Alena Nyvltova in the women's 50 back (30.14), Silvie Rybarova in the women's 200 fly (2:19.69) and Michal Spurny in the men's 1500 free (16:00.82).
