Connor Jaeger Clocks Sub-15 Minute 1500 Free For Top Seed

Men’s 1500 Free:
Club Wolverine’s Connor Jaeger held a decisive lead throughout the final heat the men’s 1500 free to become the only swimmer under the 15-minute mark. Jaeger, the American Record holder in this event with a 14:41.20, stopped the clock at a decisive 14:58.59 to qualify almost seven seconds ahead of the rest of the field for tomorrow’s final.
Jordan Wilimovsky, who has already earned an Olympic berth in the 10K Open Water race, finished second overall in prelims with a 15:05.89 from heat nine.
Michael McBroom, swimming in the same heat as Jaeger, did his best to hang close to the American Record holder finishing third overall with a 15:07.42.
P.J. Ransford picked up a fourth place seed for tomorrow’s finals with a time of 15:09.04, just ahead of Zane Grothe’s 15:11.72.
The young Robert Finke grabbed the sixth place seed with a 15:!5.52.
Clark Smith and Chris Wieser posted times of 15:17.10 and 15:17.51 respectively for seventh and eighth.
