Conner Kang Will Join Fighting Irish With 2020 Verbal to Notre Dame

NEW COMMIT: The University of Notre Dame has earned a new verbal commitment for the fall of 2020 from Louisville, Ky. native Conner Kang.

Kang does his club swimming with Lakeside Swim Team and owns five Winter Junior time standards. He most recently finaled in the 200m breast and 200m IM at the TYR Pro Swim Series – Knoxville last month after placing 11th in the latter at Juniors East. He capped off his summer season with five best times at NCSAs and won the 200m fly and 400m IM at the Kentucky LCM Championships. A current junior at Saint Xavier High School, Kang has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors.

He told Swimming World:

“I’m thrilled with excitement to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic goals at the University of Notre Dame! I can’t thank God, my family, coaches, and especially Coach DeBoor enough for all the support along the way. I’m stoked to become a part of the Fighting Irish Family! Think GOLD”

His best times include:

100 fly – 49.79
200 fly – 1:49.96
200 IM – 1:48.63
100 breast – 56.54
200 breast – 2:03.43

Although he’s not in scoring range quite yet at the ACC Championships, Kang has continuously made improvements each season with 1.5 years of club swimming still to go before suiting up for Notre Dame. He will also join Sean Faikish and Tyler Christianson in the class of 2024.
