ATHENS, Greece. August 12. HEAD US men’s swim coach Eddie Reese made it clear at the team press conference yesterday that there was “no time trial planned at all” in relation to the men’s 400 free relay, which will be contested on Day Two of competition.
“I don’t want to put added pressure on those guys that are swimming events every day (read that as meaning Michael Phelps) so in the end we might have to go with gut instinct,” said coach Reese when asked about relay selections yet again.
The latest word from pool deck suggests USA is the popular pick for gold from the Russians, Italians and the Aussies.
