Cincinnati Receives Verbals from Maddie Hannan, Liza Muller

NEW COMMITS: The University of Cincinnati has received two verbal commitments from Maddie Hannah and Liza Muller who, along with Katherine Connolly, will join the Bearcats as members of the class of 2023.

Hailing from Hudson, Ohio, she does her club swimming with Hudson Explorer Aquatics. She wrapped up her summer season with three lifetime bests at Futures in Richmond. She finished eighth in the 200 free (1:51.49) at the Speedo Akron Sectionals and is a nine-time finalists at the Lake Erie Senior Championships.

She has seen great success swimming for Hudson High School as well. Hannah placed fifth in the 200 free (1:50.50) and sixth in the 100 free (51.73) at the Ohio State Championships as a junior. She was also a member of the National Public High School 4×50 SCM medley and 4×50 SCM free relay records.

She told Swimming World:

“Super excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Cincinnati! UC provides outstanding academic and athletic opportunities! Go Bearcats!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 24.10
  • 100 free – 51.61
  • 200 free – 1:50.50
  • 500 free – 5:05.94
  • 1000 free – 10:29.85

Liza Muller

Muller competes year-round with the Northern Kentucky Clippers and has her Winter Juniors cut in the 200m back. She concluded her long course season with strong showings at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Indianapolis and Columbus. At NCSA Junior Nationals in March, the Fort Thomas, Ky. native recorded two personal bests.

The NISCA All-American does her high school swimming with Notre Dame Academy. At the KHSAA State Championships in February, she placed fourth in the 500 free with a personal best of 4:56.40. She finished tenth in the same event (5:05.47) as a sophomore.

She told Swimming World:

“I am excited to announce my commitment to continue both my academic and athletic endeavors at The University of Cincinnati! I would not be where I am today without the support of my amazing coaches, teammates, family, and friends. I can’t wait for these next 4 years! Go Bearcats!”

Her best times include:

  • 500 free – 4:56.40
  • 1000 free – 10:17.63
  • 1650 free – 17:14.47
  • 200 back – 2:03.22
  • 400 IM – 4:38.30

Both swimmers will be great additions to the Bearcats’ roster when they arrive on campus for the 2019-20 season. Cincinnati placed second at the 2018 AAC Championships.
