NEW COMMIT: The University of Cincinnati has recently gained a verbal commitment from Katherine Connolly. The Hingham, Mass. native will join the Bearcats as part of the class of 2023.

Primarily a butterflyer, Connolly does her club swimming with Kingfish Swimming where she is a Junior National qualifier in the 200 fly. She is coming off a strong summer, recording a third-place finish in the 200m fly (2:18.83) at the TYR ISCA Summer Senior Championship.

Connolly also represents Hingham High School and is a five-time MIAA Division I State Championship finalist. During her junior season, she was crowned champion in the 100 fly (55.57) at the 2018 MIAA State meet. She was a member of the Boston Globe’s 2017-18 Girls’ Swimming All-Scholastics list and holds four individual and two relay school records.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic careers at the University of Cincinnati. Thank you to my family, coaches, teammates and friends for all their support on this incredible journey. I cannot wait to be a part of such an amazing team. Go Bearcats!!”

Her best times include:

  • 100 fly – 55.57
  • 200 fly – 2:02.40
  • 200 IM – 2:14.86
  • 400 IM – 4:35.40

Connolly will make a big splash for the Bearcats when she arrives on campus for the 2019-20 season. At last season’s AAC Championships where Cincinnati was the runner-up, her best 100 fly time would’ve put her in the A final while her fastest 200 fly would’ve scored in the B final. She’ll have one year to train with Simone Palomo and Michaela Wheeler and two seasons with Katelyn Qualls.
