Chloe Farro and Elle Gilkerson Pick Indiana State; Will Join Sycamores in 2021

NEW COMMITS: Indiana State University has picked up a pair of verbal commitments for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Savaneta, Aruba native Chloe Farro and Elle Gilkerson of Mooresville, Ind.

Both swimmers will join Olivia DiRuzza and Alexa Szadorski as members of the Sycamores’ class of 2025.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic career at Indiana State University! I would like to thank Coach Josh for helping me throughout this process and also my family, especially my parents, for giving me their unconditional support throughout this journey. I would also like to thank my coaches for the guidance they have given me from the start of my swimming career. I look forward to be a Sycamore in the fall of 2021!”

A talented sprinter, Farro swims year-round with the Aruba Dolphins Swim Club and has represented the Aruban Swimming Federation internationally. She most recently earned two best times at the Uana Swimming Cup in February and earned bronze in the 50m free at the CCCAN Swimming Championships in 2018.

Her best times include (LCM/SCY conversions):

  • 50m free – 26.74/23.55
  • 100m free – 58.72/51.90
  • 50m fly – 29.08/25.41

Farro also represented Team Aruba at the 7th FINA World Junior Championships in Budapest last summer. There, she competed in the 50m free, 100m free, 50m fly, and 50m breast while earning a best time in the first event.

ELLE GILKERSON

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am beyond excited to continue my swimming career at Indiana State University. I am absolutely blessed to have this opportunity and so grateful to have the support system that I do. Huge thank you to Coach Josh and Nikki for giving me this opportunity!! Roll Trees!”

Primarily a breaststroker, Gilkerson does her club swimming with Plainfield Community Aquatics and won the 100 breast and 200 breast at the BA Winter Champions Classic in December. Last summer, she notched three best times at Indiana LCM Seniors where she finaled in the 100m breast.

Her best times include:

  • 100 breast – 1:04.33
  • 200 breast – 2:21.70
  • 200 IM – 2:10.86

A rising senior at Plainfield High School, Gilkerson has competed at the Indiana State Championships that past three years. She placed 16th in the 100 breast as a junior while taking eighth in that event during her sophomore season.
