Indiana State Gets Pair of Class of 2025 Verbals from Olivia DiRuzza and Alexa Szadorski

NEW COMMITS: Indiana State University has picked up a pair of verbal commitments for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Indianapolis, Ind. native Olivia DiRuzza and Alexa Szadorski of Aurora, Ill.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to Indiana State University! I can’t wait to be a Sycamore in the fall of 2021! Thanks to Coach Josh and Coach Nikki for guiding me through this process and to my coaches, family and friends for supporting me. #rolltrees”

Primarily a backstroker, DiRuzza swims year-round with Pike Township Swim Club and won the 200 back at the Mudsock Classic in January. Last summer, she placed 16th in the 200m back at Indiana LCM Seniors before going on to compete in three events at Greensboro Futures.

Her best times include:

  • 50 back – 26.94
  • 100 back – 56.49
  • 200 back – 2:01.59

Also competing for Pike High School, DiRuzza has competed at the Indiana State Championships each of the last three years. She finished eighth in the 100 back as a junior and 13th in that event during her rookie campaign.

ALEXA SZADORSKI

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Indiana State University! I want to thank my family, friends, coaches, and teammates for always supporting me and helping me get to this point! Can’t wait to be a Sycamore! #rolltrees”

A versatile swimmer, Szadorski does her club swimming with Delta Aquatics and most recently earned a pair of best times at Indiana Seniors. Last summer, she notched a lifetime best at Minneapolis Sectionals and raced three events at Des Moines Futures.

Her best times include:

  • 50 breast – 30.77
  • 100 breast – 1:05.54
  • 100 fly – 56.90
  • 200 IM – 2:05.43

Szadorski has competed at the Illinois State Championships the past two seasons for Oswego Co-op, finishing eighth in the 200 IM as a junior. She also placed fourth in the 100 fly and sixth in the 200 IM at the IHSA Sectional Championships in 2019.
