One week after the confirmation of Chen Xinyi’s positive doping test, the Chinese swimmer has been expelled from the 2016 Rio Olympic Games with China launching a full investigation.

It was announced on August 12th that Xinyi tested positive for the substance hydrochlorothiazide, a drug that is listed on WADA’s banned substances under “S5. Diuretics and Masking Agents,” and was disqualified for the remainder of the Olympic Games by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The Chinese Olympic delegation provided a statement to Xinhua News Agency, noting “The Chinese Olympic delegation has demanded the Chinese swimming body to start a full investigation into the matter in order to clarify the facts and seek out the truth.”

The statement continued by stating, “Although we have been making progress in battling performance-enhancing drugs, this case once again serves as a warning that anti-doping campaign is a complicated and formidable task and needs longtime and consistent efforts.”

CAS has moved the responsibility of the Xinyi’s punishment to FINA following the Olympic Games.

Xinyi finished fourth in the women’s 100 fly, missing out on a spot on the podium by .09 seconds. After her positive test results Xinyi was pulled from the rest of her events, including the 50 free and 400 medley relay.

Sorry that she was caught, they were doing so well in a state sponsored doping program.

The Olympics should take the doping program away from the fat cats at FINA, and once tested positive once, banned forever!

Don’t care if they are US or any country, one strike and you are OUT. And keep samples for 30 years, so that better testing can catch the cheats 4-5 Olympics from now.

And yes, take away the Golds form the East Germans women

You are right! Take away the golds from the biggest cheaters in history, the East German women! That was the rob of the century. Give all that gold to one of the best swimmers ever, Shirley Babashoff. The East German women would have never ever beat her without their gross cheating!

What they are investigating is who in their state run doping program messed up and allowed her to get caught. Someone going to have to have a nice stay at the laogai for this one.
