Canadian Trials: Brent Hayden to Withdraw from 50 Free
MONTREAL, Canada, April 5. ACCORDING to a release from Swimming Canada, Brent Hayden will likely not compete in the men's 50 freestyle Olympic qualifying event on Sunday.

Hayden, who qualified for the men's 200 and 100 meter individual and relay freestyle events during the course of the meet, experienced back pains after his race on Friday.
"Brent has demonstrated great courage during the course of the week racing under these conditions," said Olympic Head coach Tom Johnson. "We are taking every measure to ensure that his recovery is quick and that he is ready to compete in top physical form in Beijing."
A team of medical specialists will review Hayden's condition today. A decision will be made regarding the men's 50 freestyle qualifying event following his assessment today.
"I wanted to secure a spot on the men's relay teams and I'm very happy with that," said Hayden. "I'm glad with my racing this week and now I'm focusing on getting better."
