Canada Cup: Club Wolverine’s Emily Brunemann, Matt Patton Win Distance Events
MONTREAL, Canada, July 1. THE first night of long course meter swimming at the Canada Cup is in the books.
Club Wolverine's Emily Brunemann captured the women's 1500 free title in 16:29.43, off her third-ranked season best of 16:15.40 set at the Charlotte UltraSwim. York YMCA's Hali Flickinger took second in 17:00.57, while Etobicoke's Brittany Maclean touched third in 17:05.06.
Club Wolverine swept the distance events for the day when Matt Patton posted a 15:34.42 for the men's 1500 free crown. He edged Badger's Ryan Feeley, who took second in 15:34.66. Etobicoke's Hassann Abdel-Khalik completed the top three in 16:08.60.
In prelim action, Corrie Clark led the way in the women's 200 IM with a 2:17.91, while Barbara Jardin qualified second in 2:17.92. Tobias Oriwol paced the men's 200 IM in 2:05.73 with Andrew Ford taking second in 2:05.81.
In multi-disability events, Benoit Huot won the men's 200 free in 1:59.24, while M. Olivier completed the women's 200 free in 8:45.32. Valerie Grand'Maison topped the women's 400 free in 4:39.79, while Devin Gotell claimed the men's 400 free in 4:37.05.
