NEW COMMIT: Amber van Meines of Moraga, Calif. will head to the East Coast for her college career after pledging her verbal commitment* to Harvard University’s Class of 2026.

She will join Anya Mostek, Lizzie BrockKaia Li and Sydney Lu in Cambridge at the start of the 2022-23 season.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m so excited to announce my commitment to the admissions process at Harvard University! Thank you so much to Coach Steph and Coach Amanda for making this experience incredibly fulfilling and to my family and friends who have been there for me every step of the way. I can’t wait to be part of this group of hardworking and empowered women. GO CRIMSON!!! ❤️”

van Meines does her club swimming with Orinda Aquatics and has earned four best times since the pandemic. She finaled in the 100 free at Carlsbad Sectionals in 2020 and raced to seventh in both the 50m and 100m free at Far Westerns in July 2019.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 23.60
  • 100 free – 51.25
  • 100 back – 56.56

Currently a junior at Campolindo High School, van Meines raced the 100 free at the CIF State Championships during her freshman season. She placed third in the 100 free and eighth in the 50 free at the CIF North Coast Section Championships that year, too.

Under head coach Stephanie Morawski, Harvard placed second overall in the team standings at the 2020 Ivy League Championships.
