NEW COMMIT: Burien, Wash. native and current high school junior Gracie Felner has recently announced her verbal commitment to Cal as a member of the class of 2024.

She will also join Isabelle Stadden and Nicole Oliva in Berkeley in the fall of 2020.

Felner, who swims year-round with Bellevue Club Swim Team, owns five U.S. Open standards and most recently had four top-5 finishes at Federal Way Speedo Sectionals. At Juniors West in December, she was the runner-up in the 100 free and was part of a pair of winning Bellevue relays. She recorded a trio of best times at Junior Nationals to cap off her long course season and is a 16-time Washington SCY Senior Championship finalist over the past three years.

Also competing for Mount Rainer High School, Felner is a four-time Washington 4A State Championship finalist. She won the 100 breast and was the 200 IM runner-up as a junior after placing third in the 100 free and second in the 200 IM during her sophomore season.

She told Swimming World:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of California Berkeley class of 2024! I’d like to thank Coach Teri and Coach Sarah for the time they spent showing me what being a Golden Bear is truly about. Thank you to everyone who has supported me, it’s truly a dream come true. GO BEARS”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 23.22
  • 100 free – 49.32
  • 200 free – 1:47.58
  • 100 breast – 1:01.19
  • 200 breast – 2:14.52
  • 100 fly – 54.47
  • 200 IM – 2:00.36

Felner’s versatility will be extremely valuable for the Bears when she arrives in Berkeley at the start of the 2020-21 season. Her best times would’ve scored in the B-final of the 100 free and 100 breast as well as the C-final of the 200 free, 200 breast, 100 fly and 200 IM at the 2019 Pac-12 Championships.
