Caitlin Tycz Transfers to Yale
This coming fall, the Yale women’s swimming and diving team will welcome transfer student Caitlin Tycz. The former USC Trojan is a rising junior, and will immediately become one of the Bulldogs’ strongest butterflyers and sprint freestylers.
Tycz hails from Brunswick, Maine, and attended Brunswick High School. She was the first four-time female prep All-American from Maine, and was named the Outstanding Performer of the 2016 Maine state meet. In her first year as a Trojan, Tycz was recognized with CSCAA Scholar All-American first team honors.
Tycz enjoyed a successful sophomore campaign, finishing the year at the 2019 Pacific 12 Championships and the 2019 NCAA Division I National Championships. At the Pac-12 Championships, Tycz placed seventh in the 100-yard butterfly (22.91), ninth in the 200-yard butterfly (1:55.59) and 22nd in the 50-yard freestyle (22.91). In the prelims, Tycz also set personal records in the 100-yard butterfly (52.19) and the 50-yard freestyle (22.86). Tycz’s personal best in the 200-yard butterfly (1:54.89) was set in a meet against Fresno Pacific in November.
At the NCAA Division I National Championships, Tycz competed solely in the two butterfly events. She finished 33rd in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:56.75 and 39th in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 52.68.
Tycz will be an incredible addition to the Bulldogs program, and will look to continue to improve in the pool under the guidance of Robert J.H. Kiphuth Head Coach of Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Head Coach Jim Henry. She will be an integral part of Yale’s quest to reclaim the Ivy League title in the 2019-2020 season.
