Butterflyer Elizabeth McDevitt Selects Drexel University for Fall 2021

NEW COMMIT: Drexel University has received a new commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from butterflyer Elizabeth McDevitt of Burlington, N.C.

She will join Mariangela Cincotti of Weston, Fla. as a member of the Dragons’ Class of 2025.

She told Swimming World:

“I am super excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Drexel University.  Thank you to all my family, friends and coaches who have helped me along the way.  I can’t wait to be a Dragon!”

McDevitt does her club swimming with Alamance County Community YBAC Hurricanes and earned a best time at the 18&U Winter Championships in December and placed seventh in the 100 fly at North Carolina Seniors last February.

In Summer 2019, she finaled in the 100m fly at North Carolina LCM Seniors before going on to race three events at YMCA Long Course Nationals.

Her best times include:

  • 50 fly – 26.47
  • 100 fly – 56.50
  • 200 fly – 2:06.59
  • 100 back – 59.74
  • 200 back – 2:08.06
  • 100 free – 52.83
  • 200 free – 1:53.91

Also competing for Western Alamance High School, McDevitt is a six-time individual North Carolina 3A State Championship finalist. She placed fourth in the 200 free and sixth in the 100 fly as a junior while taking 16th and seventh, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.

McDevitt will make a big impact for the Dragons’ when she arrives in Philadelphia this fall. She would’ve scored in the B-final of the 100 fly and 200 fly at the 2020 Colonial Athletic Association Championships where Drexel finished fourth overall in the team standings.
