NEW COMMIT: Drexel University has scored their first verbal commitment for the fall of 2021 from Mariangela Cincotti of Weston, Fla.

She told Swimming World:

“I am extremely excited to officially announce my verbal commitment to continue to swim and study at Drexel University 💙💛! Special thanks to all my coaches, family, and friends that had helped be along the way. Go Dragons! 🐉”

Cincotti does her club swimming with Azura Florida Aquatics and most recently placed 12th in the 800m free and 13th in the 1500m free at Plantation Sectionals in March. In summer 2019, she finished 16th in the mile at Gainesville Sectionals.

Also a member of the Venezuelan National Teamer, Cincotti competed at the Panamerican Games in August 2019 where she raced to 12th place in the 1500m free. She earned bronze in the 800m/1500m free at Puerto Rican Open in April 2019 where she also placed fourth in the 400m free and sixth in the 200m free.

Her best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:52.91
  • 500 free – 5:00.20
  • 1000 free – 10:38.13
  • 1650 free – 17:42.19

Also competing for University High School, Cincotti is a four-time Florida 1A State Championship finalist. She placed eighth in the 500 free and 15th in the 200 free as a junior while taking ninth and 13th, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.

Cincotti will make a big impact in the Dragons’ distance freestyle group when she arrives in Philadelphia as a member of the Class of 2025. She would’ve been their third-fastest 200 freestyler and 500 freestyler and ranked No. 4 on the team in both the 1000 and mile last season.
