NEW COMMIT: The Ohio State University has added a new verbal commitment to their Class of 2026 from in-state standout and U.S. Open qualifier Jessica Eden of Mentor, Ohio.

She will join Sanna Peterson of Richmond, Va. in Columbus at the start of the 2022-23 season.

She told Swimming World:

“I chose The Ohio State University for its amazing coaching staff, and the great academic opportunities it provides. I also have enjoyed getting to know the team, and I have felt their support even with the limitations of covid! I can not wait to be a buckeye!! Go Bucks!❤️?”

A talented IMer and backstroker, Eden does her club swimming with Lake Erie Silver Dolphins and owns several Junior National and U.S. Open standards. She most recently competed at Lake Erie Seniors in March where she posted four top-3 finishes and placed 10th in the 400 IM at Juniors East in December.

In summer 2019, she finaled in four events at Columbus Sectionals before going on to take fifth in the 400m IM, 10th in the 200m IM, and 15th in the 200m back at NCSAs.

Her best times include:

  • 200 IM – 2:00.90
  • 400 IM – 4:20.08
  • 100 back – 55.93
  • 200 back – 2:00.55

Currently a junior at Hawken High School, Eden is already a four-time Ohio State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American won the 200 IM and was the runner-up in the 100 back as a sophomore while taking third in both of those events during her freshman season.

Even with just under two years to go before arriving on campus in the fall of 2022, Eden will make a big impact in Ohio State’s IM and backstroke training group. She would’ve placed in the C-final of the 400 IM at the 2020 Big Ten Championships where the Buckeyes clinched the team title.
