Bryn Mawr at Franklin and Marshall
LANCASTER, Pennsylvania, November3. BRITTANY McCabe and Cydney Eldh each won a pair of races and contributed a leg on the winning 200-yard medley relay team to pace Franklin & Marshall to a 121-75 win over Bryn Mawr. The win is Franklin & Marshall's first of the season, and gave the Diplomats (1-1) a 1-0 start in Centennial Conference competition. The meet was Bryn Mawr's first of the year.
McCabe and Eldh joined with Lucia Parry and Emily Zacherl in the 200-yard medley relay to clock a 1:56.33, giving the foursome a four-second edge over the second place team, also made up of F&M swimmers.
McCabe went on to pick up victories in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle races. She logged a 26.08 to edge out Bryn Mawr's Beth Low (26.68) in the 50. She posted a 56.01 in the 100.
Eldh won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:21.00. Zacherl gave the Diplomats a one-two sweep in the race touching second at 2:21.81. She also finished second in the 100-yard free.
In addition to her win in the 200 IM, Eldh also took the 500-yard freestyle in 5:27.63, some six seconds faster than the Owls' Cea Weaver. Weaver had given Bryn Mawr its first win of the day in the third event, the 200-yard free.
Laura Bassford won the 1,000-yard free with a time of 11:04.51, giving her 44 seconds on the rest of the field. The Diplomats swept the top three spots in the 100-yard butterfly with Jennie Payne racing to first in 1:03.40, followed by Meghan Karanian (1:04.07) and Angela Millham (1:06.73).
