Bruce Stratton Named USA Swimming President, Other Officers Announced
DALLAS, Texas, September 18. AT the USA Swimming House of Delegates meeting, current chair of the Rules & Regulations Committee Bruce Stratton won the election to replace outgoing two-term USA Swimming President Jim Wood.
Stratton has been a USA Swimming official for the past 25 years, and has served as a chair for a total of eight years. Currently, he's also a member of the Olympic International Operations Committee and is the United States Sports Insurance Company Treasurer. He also served on the Professional Swimming Task Force during the past year. Professionally, Stratton is a Certified Public Accountant with 34 years of public accounting experience.
Stratton will be stepping into some big shoes as Wood presided over some of the most tumultuous times in the history of the sport in the U.S. Wood was president during the techsuit era, which rocked the world of swimming, and the recent sexual abuse scandals within the sport in the U.S.
In other election results, Thomas Hasz was named Treasurer, while Mary Jo Swalley earned the administration vice president spot. Jeff Gudman was named the program development vice president, while David Berkoff claimed the technical vice president position. Additionally, James Sheehan picked up the program operations vice president slot on the Board.
