British Swimming Names Frederic Vergnoux, Sean Kelly Co-Coaches of the Year
LONDON, England, October 5. FREDERIC Vergnoux and Sean Kelly were jointly named Coach of the Year at the British Swimming Coaches and Teachers Conference this past weekend.
Both were rewarded for steering an athlete to a World Championship medal, with their charges Kirsty Balfour and Cassie Patten both winning silver in Melbourne earlier this year.
Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to Dave Haller and Ian Oliver. Haller has worked with Olympic medal winners including David Wilkie and David Davies, while Oliver has experienced international success with Chris Cook and Sue Rolph. Haller also received the Coaching Award of Excellence.
Marc Spackman and Chris Nesbit shared the award for Youth Coach of the Year, with Les Green being presented with the Alan Hime Memorial Award.
Billy Pye and Emma Patrick shared the Disability Coach of the Year Award, and British Swimming Head Coach Ian Turner was bestowed as a Fellow of the Association.
