Blog Post of the Week: The17thMan Discusses Vitaminwater/NCAA Issues
PHOENIX, Arizona, February 11. THIS week, the17thman discusses the fact that the NCAA has distributed a warning regarding certain flavors of Vitaminwater products that contain substances on its banned lists.
Apparently, several versions of Vitaminwater have ingredients such as caffeine, taurine, L-theanine, glucosamine and other substances that are either not allowed during competition or not allow beyond certain levels by the NCAA. The17thman blog links to an official post by the NCAA regarding the specifics of the issues involved.
The17thman offers a bit of humor as a Masters swimmer stating that he would easily fail if tested for the caffeine levels:
"Personally I'd so fail testing over the caffeine as I'm one of those people who don't like coffee so I take a caffeine pill in the morning when I wake up. Good thing USMS isn't so strict on substances as I see swimmers with jugs of Starbucks on deck at meets."
