Biedermann Named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week for the Second Time
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. January 10. PENN State's Amberle Biedermann (Colorado Spring, Colo.) was named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week today for the second time this season. Biedermann led the 200-yard freestyle relay team to a first place finish against Florida with a time of 1:36.03. The honor comes after the Lion women came up short against Florida on Saturday, 136-152.
The senior and her 200-yard freestyle relay team earned an NCAA A qualifying time. She also claimed two NCAA "B" standard marks as she earned first in the 200 butterfly in 2:00.44 and helped her 200 medley relay team place second with a time of 1:43.76. Biedermann also captured a second place finish in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.51.
Biedermann is a ten-time Big Ten Champion, seven-time Big Ten record holder and a six-time all-American. Biedermann won three Big Ten titles this past season in the 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay, and 100 butterfly. She made her fourth appearance at the NCAA Championships this past March, finishing seventh in both the 200 and 400 medley relays.
The Penn State men's and women's swimming and diving teams take on St.
Bonaventure Jan. 14 at McCoy Natatorium, starting at 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
