Bentley vs. Babson
WALTHAM, Massachusetts, January 22. ANNE Kaduboski (Dedham/Dedham HS) accounted for three of her team's eight victories as the Bentley University women's swim team posted a 129-102 win over visiting Babson College Wednesday night at the Dana Center pool.
Kaduboski finished first in the 200 yard freestyle (2:02.18), the 200 individual medley (2:18.07) and the 100 butterfly (1:00.73). She is now unbeaten in her last 38 individual races in dual competition.
Senior Kristen Thuerk (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire HS) and sophomore Emily Travers (Brentwood, N.H./Exeter HS) were both double-winners for the Falcons. Thuerk out-swam the field in both the 1000 freestyle (11:24.29) and the 500 free (5:38.12). Travers swept the diving, with scores of 208.35 on the one-meter board and 203.10 in the three-meter event.
Completing the list of Bentley winners was freshman Susie Boretti (Westford/Westford Academy) in the 100 breaststroke, with a time of 1:11.99.
Babson captured both relays and picked up victories from Sara Martinek (Riverside, Ill.) in the 100 free (57.56) and Mallory Mosk (San Clemente, Calif.) in the 100 back (1:05.70).
For the men, junior Willie Connolly (Washington, Conn./Shepaug Valley HS) and sophomore Egen Ouellette (West Hartford, Conn./Conard HS) each won two individual events as the Bentley University men's swimming team topped Babson College, 128-88, Wednesday night at the Dana Center pool.
Connolly prevailed in the 200 yard individual medley (2:04.15) and the 100 back (54.42) while Ouellette touched first in the 200 freestyle (1:50.44) and the 100 free (49.65).
Earlier, Connolly helped Bentley open the meet on a winning note, by placing first in the 400 yard medley relay. He combined with junior Sam Laden (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire HS) and seniors James Cote (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip HS) and Nick Markert (Lincoln Park, N.J./Boonton HS) for a time of 3:44.26.
Other Bentley swimming victories came from freshman Eric Stricker (Long Valley, N.Y./West Morris Central HS) in the 10:38.49, sophomore Chris Horan (Hanover/Boston College HS) in the 500 free (5:13.17) and Markert in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.86).
Bentley also swept the diving events with freshman Jake Capistron (Amherst/Northampton-Williston) amassing 221.25 points on the one-meter and classmate Mike Walsh (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay HS) 200.75 on the three-meter.
