Beijing Implementing Water-Diversion Project

BEIJING, China, October 22. IN its latest step to ensure that the conditions of next year's Olympic Games are top-notch, Beijing has spent $57.3 million on a water-diversion project intended to enhance the environment around Olympic venues, according to the China Daily. A 13-kilometer long pipe has been hooked up between the Wenyu River and the Chaobai River.
Regularly, the Chaobai River runs out of water each year due to exploitation, so water from the Wenyu will be funneled to the Chaobai. That move will improve the scenery for athletes and spectators who are located near the site. The connection obviously will include a filtering system to ensure that the quality of the water is sound.
