Austrian Coach Attempts Suicide After Child Pornography Allegations
LINZ, Austria, March 4. ACCORDING to a variety of articles, Austrian coach Helge Godecke attempted to commit suicide after authorities performed a house search in an attempt to find alleged child pornography.
According to various reports, Godecke has been immediately removed from his position as a national coach after allegations surfaced that Godecke secretly recorded two boys, 15 and 16 years old, watching pornography.
Godecke is one of Austria's top coaches, with the likes of Dominik Koll, David Brandl, Jordis Steinegger and Nina Dittrich in his stable of swimmers. The country's swimming community is currently in shock after these allegations, coming shortly after its long course national championships.
"My world is collapsing," Steinegger said in a rough Internet translation. "I feel like I am in a bad movie right now."
