Armstrong does his club swimming with Houston Bridge Bats where he has his Nationals cut in both the 50 and 100 free. He competed at Nationals and Junior Nationals this past summer and recorded two lifetime bests at the Austin Speedo Sectionals in July. At Speedo Juniors West in December, he posted an eighth-place showing in the 50 free (20.63).

He told Swimming World:

“I am proud to announce my verbal commitment to further my education and swimming career at Auburn University.  I’m very excited about the new coaching staff Coach Gary Taylor has assembled and I can’t wait to be a part of such a great program. War Eagle!”
