NEW COMMIT: Arlington, Wash. native and high school junior Alejandro Flores has announced his verbal commitment to Auburn University and will join the Tigers as a member of the class of 2024.

Flores swims year-round with West Coast Aquatics and owns the Summer Juniors cut in the 200 breast with the U.S. Open standard in the 100 breast. He placed eighth in the 100 breast and 15th in the 200 breast at Juniors West and earned the bronze in the latter at Washington Seniors last month. He finished 20th in the 100 breast at Nationals in November and earned a lifetime best en route to placing 11th in the 100m breast at Junior Nationals this past summer.

Also representing Lake Stevens High School, Flores is a four-time Washington 4A State Championship finalist. The NISCA All-American was the 100 breast runner-up and took tenth in the 200 IM as a sophomore after placing third and eighth, respectively, in those events during his freshman campaign. While competing for King Aquatic Club, Flores swam the breaststroke leg of the National Age Group record-breaking 200m medley relay in 2016.

He told Swimming World:

“I’m looking forward to competing in the SEC and contributing to the tradition of great swimming out of Auburn.”

His best times include:

  • 50 breast – 25.46
  • 100 breast – 54.71
  • 200 breast – 2:00.01

Flores is just outside of scoring range at the SEC Championships, but has made some pretty big time drops over the past two seasons with 1.5 years of club swimming still to go before suiting up for the Tigers. Flores will join Elliot Jones in Auburn’s class of 2024.
