Atisha Phetbenjakul Commits to Navy With Patriot League A-Final Worthy Times

NEW COMMITS: The United States Naval Academy has received a new verbal commitment for their Class of 2025 from Junior National qualifier Atisha Phetbenjakul of Ladera Ranch, Calif.

She will join Haley HarrisMegan MurphyCatherine Weaverling, Caroline IrwinJennifer LuongDanielle “Dani” Ghine and Katie Wong in Annapolis at the start of the 2021-22 season.

Phetbenjakul, who does her club swimming with Irvine Novaquatics, last competed at Carlsbad Sectionals in February 2020 where she placed ninth in the 100 breast after taking seventh in the 200 IM at East LA Sectionals in December 2019. In Summer 2019, she earned a best time at Mount Hood Futures.

Her best times include:

  • 100 breast – 1:03.15
  • 200 breast – 2:21.29
  • 200 IM – 2:02.98
  • 100 fly – 56.68
  • 50 free – 24.03
  • 100 free – 51.82

Also competing for Tesoro High School, Phetbenjakul placed fifth in the 200 IM and seventh in the 100 breast as a sophomore at the CIF Southern DI Section Championships. She has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for her efforts in the pool and in the classroom.

Phetbenjakul would’ve scored in the A-final of the 100 breast and 200 IM as well as the B-final of the 200 breast at the 2020 Patriot League Championships where Navy won the team title

With last year’s conference championship win, Navy set the Patriot League record for the most titles won by a team in a single sport, winning 18 Patriot League titles since the league’s inception in the 1990-91 school year. Their 2020 title was their ninth in a row – and 10th in 11 years – for the Mids.
