Dani Ghine, Katie Wong Announce College Choices; Will Join Navy’s Class of 2025

NEW COMMITS: Columbia, Md. native Danielle “Dani” Ghine and Katie Wong of Alpharetta, Ga. have both pledged their verbal commitments to the United States Naval Academy beginning in the fall of 2021.

Ghine, who owns six Junior National or faster standards, swims year-round with Eagle Swim Team and most recently finaled in the 100m back at the Toyota U.S. Open. She finished sixth in the 100m free this past summer at NCSAs after recording six top-6 finishes at Christiansburg Sectionals last winter. A current junior at McDonogh School, Ghine earned silvers in the 100/200 free combo at Maryland Seniors and notched a best time at 2018 Winter Nationals.

Her best times include:

  • 100 back – 54.67
  • 200 back – 1:58.03
  • 100 free – 50.73
  • 200 free – 1:48.84
  • 100 fly – 54.55
  • 200 fly – 2:01.45

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am beyond excited and honored to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the United States Naval Academy! Thank you to my family, coaches, and friends for helping me get to this point! GO NAVY!”

KATIE WONG

Two-time Junior National qualifier Wong does her club swimming with Swim Atlanta and recently finished 24th in both butterfly events at Juniors East. A two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, she placed 11th in the 200m fly at Georgia LCM Seniors in July. Also competing for Chattahoochee High School, Wong earned bronze in the 100 fly and took fourth in the 200 IM during both her freshman and sophomore seasons at the Georgia 6-7A State Championships.

Her best times include:

  • 100 fly – 54.92
  • 200 fly – 2:01.65
  • 200 IM – 2:05.54
  • 400 IM – 4:29.18
  • 100 back – 57.61

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am honored to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the US Naval Academy! I am so grateful to my swim coaches, teammates, teachers, friends and family that have helped me to become the person I am today. Go Navy, beat Army!”
