Chris Harig verbally commits to ASU.

NEW COMMIT: Arizona State University has landed a new commitment for the fall of 2021 from Chris Harig of Issaquah, Wash.

He will join Christian Osterndorf, Jeremy Graunke, Ethan Hansen and Emilio “Lio” Perez in Tempe as a member of the Sun Devils’ class of 2025.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am proud to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Arizona State University! Thank you to my friends, family and coaches for all their support. A special thanks to Coach Behm and Coach Bowman for this opportunity. Go Sun Devils!!!”

A Junior National qualifier, Harig is a talented breaststroker and IMer who raced two events at Juniors West in December before going on to register five top-10 finishes at Pacific Northwest Seniors. Last summer, he placed 20th in the 100m breast at Mount Hood Futures and competed at Junior Nationals.

He swims year-round with Seattle Metropolitan Aquatic Club.

His best times include:

  • 100 breast – 56.92
  • 200 breast – 2:04.06
  • 200 IM – 1:52.84
  • 400 IM – 4:01.81
  • 50 free – 21.47

A rising senior at Issaquah High School, Harig is a five-time Washington 4A State Championship finalist. He placed fourth in the 200 IM and sixth in the 100 breast as a junior while taking fifth and ninth, respectively, in those events during his sophomore season.

Recently, Arizona State made headlines for their swimmers redshirting the upcoming 2020-21 season.
