Anna Boeckman, Izzy Pytel Will Join Penn Quakers for 2021-22 Season

Anna Boeckman and Izzy Pytel verbally commit to Penn.

NEW COMMITS: The University of Pennsylvania has earned two new verbal commitments* for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Greenwich, Conn. native Anna Boeckman and Izzy Pytel of Naperville, Ill.

Both Junior National qualifiers will join Hannah Liu as a member of the Quakers’ class of 2025. Under head coach Michael Schnur, Penn finished fourth at the 2020 Ivy League Championships.

She told Swimming World:

“Beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Pennsylvania!! Thank you to my family, friends, teammates, teachers and coaches for their support throughout the years. Go Quakers!!!️”

A talented breaststroker and IMer, Boeckman does her club swimming with Chelsea Piers Aquatic Club and recorded five best times at the NCAP Invitational in December where her highest finish was a sixth-place showing in the 200 breast. She was also the 200 breast runner-up at the SCHE Region 1 Invite in February.

Her best times include:

  • 100 breast – 1:03.75
  • 200 breast – 2:17.18
  • 200 IM – 2:05.37
  • 400 IM – 4:26.70

Last summer, she finaled in the 100m breast at Connecticut LCM Seniors before going on to place fifth in the 200m breast and seventh in the 200m IM at TYR Summer Seniors. She has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for her efforts.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

A versatile swimmer, Pytel swims year-round with Academy Bullets Swim Club and raced three events at the U.S. Open in December before going on to place fifth in the 200 IM at Illinois Seniors in March. Last summer, she raced to fifth place in the 200m IM at Illinois LCM Seniors and took fourth in that event at NCSAs.

Her best times include:

  • 50 breast – 29.60
  • 100 breast – 1:03.43
  • 50 fly – 25.23
  • 100 fly – 55.90
  • 200 IM – 2:03.30

A rising senior at Rosary High School, Pytel has competed at the Illinois State Championships the past two seasons. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American was the 200 IM runner-up and placed seventh in the 100 fly as a junior at the IHSA Neuqua Valley Section Championships during her junior season.
