Alex Walsh Withdraws From Westmont Pro Series Stop Because of Illness

Olympic medalist Alex Walsh has pulled out of the Pro Swim Series Westmont stop this week.

Walsh posted on social media that an illness is keeping her from competing.

“Due to illness, I have scratched my races at the Westmont Pro Series this weekend,” Alex Walsh posted. “My biggest priority is to recover quickly and continue preparing for the China Open. Good luck to everyone competing!”

Walsh originally entered in four events for Westmont. She was the No. 2 seed in the 200 IM, third seed in the 50 breaststroke, fourth seed in the 100 butterfly and No. 13 in the 200 freestyle.

The China Open is from March 19-22 and has higher prize money slated for the top three spots, including $10,000 for winning an event.
