Alabama Reels In Verbal Commitment from NCSA Finalist Jackson Dement

NEW COMMIT: The University of Alabama has picked up a new verbal commitment for the fall of 2021 from Junior National qualifier Jackson Dement of Houston, Texas.

He will join Nicklas Bohn, Charlie Hawke, Braden Rollins, William Watson, Ben Hines, Mateo Miceli, Nikolas Lee-Bishop and Holden Smith in Tuscaloosa as members of the class of 2025.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I’m excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Alabama. I can’t wait to get to work and a big thanks to everyone who has helped me achieve this goal. #rolltide”

A versatile swimmer, Dement does his club swimming with Katy Aquatics and most recently placed sixth in the 200m fly and eighth in the 800m free at College Station Sectionals in March. He placed 23rd in the 500 free and 25th in the mile at Juniors West in December. 

Last summer, he earned 100% best times at NCSAs where he placed fourth in the 800m free, sixth in the 200m fly, and seventh in the 400m free.

His best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:40.39
  • 500 free – 4:28.23
  • 1650 free – 15:40.51
  • 100 fly – 50.96
  • 200 fly – 1:49.22
  • 200 IM – 1:55.71
  • 400 IM – 4:04.68

Also competing for Bridgeland High School, Dement is a four-time Texas 6A State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American finished sixth in the 500 free as a junior while taking 10th in that event during his sophomore season.
