Cal Swims Past UCLA in West Coast Battle of Former Pac-12 Rivals

The Cal women’s swimming and diving team defeated UCLA in a former Pac-12 showdown and current ACC vs. Big Ten dual meet.

The Golden Bears won the meet 179-120 on Saturday, Jan. 17.

Cal started the meet with a win the 200 medley relay. Mary-Ambre Moluh, Silje Slyngstadil, Annie Jia and Sydney Griscavage got to the wall in 1:35.38.

Slyngstadil won the 100 breaststroke in 59.83. Jia won the 200 butterfly (1:57.09) and the 100 fly (51.66).

Lilou Ressencourt took the 200 free in 1:45.71, just ahead of UCLA’s Rosie Murphy (1:45.85).

Cal’s Kathry Hazle won the 100 free in 9:52.56 and 200 breaststroke in 2:11.63. Mia West won the 100 backstroke in 50.78 and 500 free (4:39.75).

The Golden Bears closed with a win in the 200 free relay as Moluh, West, Jia and Griscavage won in 1:28.17.

UCLA’s Jada Duncan won the 50 free in 22.17, holding off Moluh (22.33). Moluh flipped the script in the 100 free, winning in 48.39 ahead of Duncan (48.86).

Murphy won the 200 backstroke in 1:51.59 and 200 IM (1:55.18).

UCLA’s Eden Chang won 1-meter diving with a score of 295.65 and swept the boards with a win in the 3-meter event, scoring 319.28.
