4 More Meet Records Fall in Final Day at Lithuanian Championships
On the third and final day of the 2016 Lithuanian Championships, four meet records fell in finals.
Ganna Dzerkal of Ukraine set a championship record in the women’s 200 IM with a 2:16.05. Her 2:20.35 prelims swim was also a new meet record. Erika Martisiute out touched Ieva Jaceviciute 2:25.27 to 2:25.49 for second.
The men’s 100 breaststroke was also won in meet record time. Andrius Sidlauskas clocked a 1:00.96 to lower his prelims record of 1:01.32.
Mindaugas Sadauskas set a new meet mark with his 49.67 in the 100 freestyle. He held the old standard with a 50.00. Danas Rapsys also slid under the old mark with his 49.73. Pjotr Degtjarjov was third in 50.39.
A 1:01.67 earned Beatrice Kanapienyte a championship record in the women’s 100 butterfly, under the 1:01.68 established in 2013. Kanapienyte was just shy of the 1:01.45 national mark set in 2011.
Ugne Mazutaityte followed up her 200 backstroke national record with a win in the 200 freestyle. She touched in 2:08.73, over a second ahead of runner up Justina Dilkaite in 2:09.90. Mazutaityte also won the 50 backstroke final with a 29.67.
Deividas Margevicius was the top finisher in the men’s 50 backstroke, posting a 24.09. Pijus Mackevicius was also under 25 with his 24.80 for second place.
Grantas Dapkus was the winner of the men’s 1500 freestyle, stopping the clock in 16:26.99.
Maria Romanjuk clocked a 2:32.57 to win the women’s 200 breaststroke.
In the men’s 200 backstroke Gytis Stankevicius topped the podium with a 2:03.65.
