500 Freestyle

What’s a Big Ten men’s swimming and diving championships without four Michigan guys in the 500 free A-Final? The Wolverines will have half the field in tonight’s A-Final led by the top three seeds in senior Felix Auböck (4:14.65), sophomore Patrick Callan (4:14.70) and junior Ricardo Vargas (4:14.70).

Aubock is looking for his fourth straight Big Ten title in this event and could chase his meet record of 4:09.29 he set in 2018. The Wolverines will also have William Roberts (4:19.97) in the A-Final as they will pack on the points in this event.

Penn State’s Michael Daly (4:18.24), Wisconsin’s Cameron Tysoe (4:18.67), Indiana’s Mikey Calvillo (4:19.90) and Minnesota’s Cameron Kelley (4:19.97) will also swim in the A-Final.

200 IM

The Michigan Wolverines continued their insane morning on Thursday at Big Tens as they got four up in the 200 IM and will have half the A-Final. Jeremy Babinet (1:43.19) led the Wolverines qualifiers in second place as he will be joined by seniors Tommy Cope (1:43.47), Charlie Swanson (1:43.71) and Jacob Montague (1:44.12).

But Michigan is not the top seed as that distinction belongs to Ohio State’s Paul DeLakis (1:42.72). He will be joined in the final by fellow Buckeye Andrew Loy (1:44.12) who had a big swim out of the non-seeded heats.

Indiana will also have two in the final with Van Mathias (1:43.66) and Mohamed Samy (1:43.71).
