The second night of finals from the 2019 Phillips 66 USA Swimming Nationals will feature six events with the 200 free, 200 breast and 200 back set to happen on Thursday night from Palo Alto, California.
There was only one major A-Final scratch on Thursday and that was Katie Drabot of Alto Swim Club, who pulled out of the 200 free final. Drabot had a disappointing seventh place finish in the 200 fly last night and probably scratched the 200 fly to take advantage of being back at Stanford. Emma Atkinson of Germantown Academy took her place in the A-Final where 15-year-old Claire Tuggle is the top seed.
Kieran Smith will be looking to win the second event of the meet for the Florida men as he was a 1:46 this morning in the 200 free and will be looking to join the likes of Bobby Finke as Gator winners in this meet. Smith will be pushed by former Gator Maxime Rooney, who moved up to fifth in the world last night in the 100 free.
Madisyn Cox is the top seed in the women’s 200 breast while old rivals Daniel Roy and Reece Whitley are the top two seeds in the men’s event.
Asia Seidt and Austin Katz are the top seeds in the 200 back as both are coming off showings at the World University Games in early July.
