2019 FINA World Championships Day 7 Start Sheets for Finals

The start lists for the 2019 FINA World Championships Day 7 finals have been released with several strong races expected.
It starts with a bang as several of the world’s top women face off in the 50 butterfly final.

Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom will be in lane four as the top seed, flanked by France’s Marie Wattel in lane three and Ranomi Kromowidjojo of the Netherlands in lane five. Egypt’s Farida Osman, USA’s Kelsi Dahlia, Australia’s Brianna Throssell and Canada’s Penny Oleksiak will also be aiming for the medal podium.
The men’s 50 free final will follow. Can Caeleb Dressel break another world record? He is seeded first in the 50 free with a 21.18. The record is 20.91 (Cesar Cielo).
He will have Brazil’s Bruno Fratus, Great Britain’s Benjamin Proud and Russia’s Vladimir Morozov around him, while USA’s Michael Andrew will be in lane eight.
Dressel will be the top seed in the 100 fly as well after setting the world record in the semis at 49.50. Hungary’s Kristof Milak and Russia’s Andrei Minakov will be on either side of Dressel, while Britain’s James Guy, Germany’s Marius Kusch, South Africa’s Chad le Clos, France’s Mehdy Metella and Australia’s Matthew Temple all have a chance at a medal.
The women’s 800 free final will feature Katie Ledecky, who earlier in the meet was forced to withdraw from a couple of events because of illness. USA teammate Leah Smith is the top seed, while Australia’s Ariarne Titmus and Italy’s Simona Quadarella will also aim for medals in the event.
The women’s 200 back final will feature new world holder Regan Smith in lane four, flanked by Italy’s Margherita Panziera and Canada’s Kylie Masse. The rest of the field includes medal contenders Taylor Ruck of Canada, Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu and Katalin Burian and Australia’s Minna Atherton and Kaylee McKeown.
The women’s 50 free semifinals will feature Australia’s Cate Campbell in lane four of the first semi, flanked by Denmark’s Pernille Blume and USA’s Abbey Weitzeil, along with Femke Heemskerk. The second heat will have Sjostrom in lane four, flanked by Russia’s Mariia Kameneva and USA’s Simone Manuel. Kromowidjojo will, like Sjostrom, aim for a double medal, while Australia’s Bronte Campbell and Britain’s Anna Hopkin will also be in the second semi.
The women’s 50 breast semifinals will feature USA’s Lilly King and Jamaica’s Alia Atkinson in the first heat and Italy’s Benedetta Pilato and Martina Carraro in the second heat, along with Sweden’s Sophie Hansson and Russia’s Yuliya Efimova.
The men’s 50 back semis will feature Americans Ryan Murphy and Michael Andrew in the first semi, along with South Africa’s Zane Waddell. The second semi will feature Russia’s Kliment Kolesnikov, the top seed, and France’s Jeremy Stravius and China’s Xu Jiayu.
