Women 400 IM Prelims
Texas A&M junior Sydney Pickrem earned the middle lane going into tonight’s final session with a time of 4:44.74. Pickrem’s mark is well off her best time, but a solid swim nonetheless and about a second ahead of Olympic gold medalist Melanie Margalis who swam a 4:45.49 to secure the second spot. Posting the third fastest time was Longhorn freshman Evie Pfeifer with a 4:48.60. Rounding out the A final tonight will be Sophie Catermole with her 4:51.42.
Notable absences from the event include Leah Smith‘s no-show and a declared false start from Ashley Neidigh.

Men 400 IM Prelims
Georgia Bulldog Chase Kalisz cruised to a 4:19.07 which gave him the top spot going into tonight’s finals over N.C. State’s Anton Ipsen who posted a 4:21.87 while the third spot was taken by Louisville’s Daniel Sos in 4:22.97. The eighth spot in the A final was awarded to Sos’ Cardinal teammate Etay Gurevich by virtue of his 4:30.94.
Taking the top spot in the B final tonight will be Regina Optimist’s Brian Palaschuk who swam a 4:31.27 this morning while the outside lane will go to Missouri State’s Uvis Kalnins.

Women 100 Fly Prelims
Mission Viejo’s Amanda Kendall secured the middle lane in tonight’s final with her 58.42. China’s Zhang Yufei finished right behind in 58.80 while the third fastest time was 58.92, which was produced by Tennessee’s Sarah Gibson. 15-year old superstar Regan Smith was right behind in a 59.06.

Men 100 Fly Prelims
Texas grad Jack Conger blew away the rest of the competitors by posting a 52.58 ahead of the second fastest swimmer, Masayu Umemoto will take lane five tonight due to his prelim time of 53.22 while WVU grad Bryce Bohman swam a 53.61 to earn the third spot going into tonight’s finals.
Notably, N.C. State’s Ryan Held turned in a 54.20 to take the seventh spot going into the finals session.

Women 200 Back Prelims
14-year old Chinese superstar Peng Xuwei out-swam Regan Smith by dipping under the 2:10 mark with her 2:09.36. Smith turned in a 2:10.18 while 17-year old Taylor Ruck swam a 2:10.46 to secure the third spot leading into tonight’s A final. Longhorn senior Quinn Carrozza, just coming off a victory against Auburn earlier in the week, turned in the fourth fastest time of 2:12.49.

Men 200 Back Prelims
Olympic gold medalist and world-record holder Ryan Murphy touched ahead of everyone this morning on his way to turning the only sub-2:00 time of 1:59.75. Former University of California-Berkely teammate Jacob Pebley swam a 2:00.05, to earn the second middle lane tonight while Great Britain’s Luke Greenbank posted the third fastest time of the heats in a 2:00.51.
Mason Manta Ray’s 16-year old phenom Carson Foster swam a 2:01.61 to get fourth leading into the final while Great Britain’s Nicholas Pyle swam a best time to squeak into the A final tonight with a 2:02.17.

Women 200 Breast Prelims
UMBC graduate Emily Escobedo, who now represented Condors Swim Club, swam 2:28.20 to earn the top spot ahead of 400 IM top seed, Pickrem, who posted a 2:28.37. Chloe Sutton out of Swim Wales earned the third spot with her 2:28.67. Seasoned veteran Breeja Larson posted a 2:30.73 to round out the A final heat.

Men 200 Breast Prelims
China’s Zibei Yan was able to get ahead of Chase Kalisz by posting a 2:12.35 to Chalisz’s 2:12.77. Texas grad Will Licon was able to secure the third spot leading into tonight’s finals with his 2:14.29. Georgia’s Nic Fink was just a tenth behind Licon with his 2:14.39. Cal-Berkley commit, Reece Whitley was able to sneak into the A final with his 2:15.73.

Women 200 Free Prelims
After an impressive performance in the 200 breast, Margalis dipped under the 2:00 mark with her 1:59.06, just ahead of World junior record holder Bingjie Li who swam a 1:59.45. Taylor Ruck was able to secure the third fastest time with her 2:00.43. Other members of the 2:00 club include Texas A&M’s Claire Rasmus and HPCO’s Kayla Sanchez with their marks of 2:00.65 and 2:00.85.

Men 200 Free Prelims
Four swimmers were able to dip under the 1:50 mark with Clark Smith leading the way in 1:49.04 with Zane Grothe right behind in 1:49.11. The third spot was taken by Jack Conger in 1:49.30 with University of Florida commit Trey Freeman coming in with a 1:49.94. Notably, N.C. State’s Ipsen fell to seventh with his 1:51.07.
