After two strong days of swimming, Day 3 of the TYR Pro Series meet at Mesa features a huge chunk of sprinting events as well as the 400 free.

Men’s 400 Free
Marwan El Kamash opened Day 3 of the Mesa Pro Series meet by taking the top seed in the men’s 400 free, a race that features some strong competition.
El Kamash finished the prelims in 3:54.16, holding off Jordan Wilmovsky (3:55.21) and Zane Grothe (3:55.93).
Marcelo Acosta of Louisville took the fourth seed at 3:56.66, followed by Dimitrios Dimitriou (3:56.75) of North Carolina, Rafael Davila (3:57.37) of South Carolina, Rahiti De Vos (3:58.05) and Chris Wieser (3:58.89).

Women’s 50 Fly
Kelsi Dahlia put together a strong 50 butterfly to take the top seed in 25.97. On her heels was USC’s Louise Hansson in 26.77.
Cal’s Farida Osman took the third seed (26.84), followed by Aliena Schmidtke (26.95), Louisville’s Mallory Comerford (26.97), Hellen Moffitt (27.03), Alyssa Marsh (27.19) and Sarah Gibson (27.29).

Men’s 50 Fly
Michael Andrew continued his top-level speed in Mesa, taking the top seed in the 50 fly in 23.37.
Tim Phillips took the second seed in 24.05, followed by Marcus Schlesinger (24.07), Meiron Cheruti (24.23), Giles Smith (24.48), Pace Clark (24.56), Kyle Robrock (24.73) and Runar Borgen (24.76).

Women’s 50 Back
Athens Bulldogs’ Olivia Smoliga coasted into the top seed in the 50 back, finishing in 28.01.
Club Wolverine’s Ali DeLoof took the second spot at 28.43, followed by Katharine Berkoff (28.83), Cal’s Keaton Blovad (28.92), Isabella Arcila Hurtado (29.15), Cal’s Amy Bilquist (29.26), Hellen Moffitt (29.46), and Karolina Hajkova (29.47).

Men’s 50 Back
The men’s 50 back is shaping up to be a strong race as Mark Nikolaev took the top seed in 25.15.
Tuscon Ford’s Matt Grevers was second (25.69), followed by Youssef Said (26.14), Kyle Robrock (26.51), Luke Penchmann (26.76), Jack Anderson (27.33), Yeziel Morales (27.36) and Joshua Ries (27.46).

Women’s 400 Free
Tuscon Ford’s Leah Smith cruised to the top seed in the 400 free, finishing the prelims in 4:11.98.
Athens Bulldogs’ Hali Flickinger took second at 4:13.46, followed by Leonie Kullmann (4:16.13), Cierra Runge (4:16.73), Vien Nguyen (4:17.64), Sophie Cattermole (4:18.42), Ashley Neidigh (4:19.08), and Kirsten Jacobsen (4:19.62).

Women’s 50 Breast
Molly Hannis turned in a strong 50 breast performance, finishing in 30.26 to set up a showdown with Breeja Larson (31.14) in the final.
Peyton Kondis took the third seed (31.81), followed by Zoe Bartel (32.12), Melanie Margalis (32.14), Tjasa Pintar (32.52), Silja Kansakoski (32.57) and Morganne McKennan (33.06).

Men’s 50 Breast
After dominating at the NCAA championships, Indiana’s Ian Finnerty put together a strong sprint to take the top seed in the 50 breast, finishing in 27.62.
South Carolina’s Itay Goldfaden was right on his heels at 27.64, followed by Athens Bulldogs’ Nic Fink (27.74), Youssef El Kamash (27.76), Chuck Katis (27.96), Kevin Cordes (28.01), Carlos Claverie (28.24) and Levi Jensen (28.42).

Women’s 50 Free
Margo Geer finished the women’s portion of Saturday’s preliminaries by taking the top seed in the 50 free, touching the wall in 25.05.
Louisville’s Mallory Comerford took the second seed in 25.36, followed by Swim-MAC’s Madison Kennedy (25.39), Cal’s Abbey Weitzeil (25.42) and Cardinals’ Kelsi Dahlia (25.42), who tied for the fourth seed.
USC’s Louise Hansson followed with the sixth seed in 25.58, ahead of Trojans’ Anika Apostalon (25.64) and Lia Neal (25.73).

Men’s 50 Free
Michael Andrew surged to the top seed in the 50 free to close out the preliminary session. He finished in 22.06.
Michael Chadwick took the second seed at 22.37 ahead of Nathan Adrian (22.68).
Bruno Blaskovic took the fourth seed (22.71), followed by Cullen Jones (22.78), Andrej Barna (22.96), Nikola Miljenic (22.97) and Kyle Robrock (23.00).
