Men’s 400 IM
California will be looking for big points in the men’s 400-yard IM after picking up the top two seeds at the 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Championships.
Josh Prenot led the way with a 3:39.10, while teammate Andrew Seliskar raced his way to a 3:39.51 for the second seed. Seliskar has the fastest lifetime best of the entire field with a fifth-ranked 3:37.52 while swimming for NCAP.
The two are looking for California’s first win ever in the event’s history at NCAAs.
Georgia’s Jay Litherland qualified third in a time of 3:39.60. If he picks up the victory, that’d be Georgia’s fifth win ever. Robert Margalis (2003), Bill Cregar (2011) and Chase Kalisz (2013, 2014) own the other Bulldog triumphs at NCAAs.
Texas’ Will Licon, the 200 IM victor from last night with the second-fastest time ever, qualified fourth in 3:39.83. He’ll be looking for Texas’ second win ever as the defending champion, and also tack on Texas’ sixth title of the meet so far this week.
Should he win, he’d join a long line of multiple winners.

Men’s 100 fly
It’s not quite the amazing six A finalists like last year, but Texas went two up, two down as Joseph Schooling led men’s 100-yard fly qualifying at the 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Championships.
Schooling posted the 10th-fastest time ever in the event with a 44.68. That’s just half-a-second off Austin Staab’s 2009 NCAA record of 44.18 set for Stanford.
Schooling, the defending champion in the event with a 44.51 from last year, could become yet another two-time winner in the event. The sophomore also could keep himself in play to join Texas’ Ian Crocker, Stanford’s Pablo Morales and Indiana’s Mark Spitz for a career 100 fly sweep.

Men’s 200 free
Georgia’s Matias Koski moved to 14th all time in the men’s 200-yard free with the top seed at the 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Championships.
Koski raced his way to a 1:32.21. That swim tied him with Brett Fraser of Florida for 14th all time ever in the 200 free. That’s not the fastest 200 free thus far this week as Texas’ Jack Conger (1:31.89) and NC State’s Simonas Bilis (1:32.02) smoked their 800 free relay leadoffs. Conger, however, did not compete in the individual event, while Bilis qualified fourth in 1:32.77.
Koski will be looking for Georgia’s first ever win in this event in NCAA history.

Men’s 100 breast
Missouri’s Fabien Schwingenschlogl will be looking for Missouri’s first NCAA title after posting the top seed in the men’s 100-yard breast at the 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Championships.
Schwingenschlogl, who transferred to Missouri after Western Kentucky suspended its collegiate program, qualified first in 51.53. If he can pull off the win tonight, that’d be the first time a Missouri Tiger stood atop the podium at NCAAs.
Schwingenschlogl has a good chance to win as he’s the top-ranked swimmer in the field with a seventh-ranked 51.36 on his resume.
Tennessee’s Peter John Stevens qualified second in 51.67. He is looking to become the first Volunteer winner in the 100 breast since Jeremy Linn won three straight from 1996-98.

Men’s 100 back
California’s Ryan Murphy, a day after obliterating the NCAA and American record in the 100-yard back as a leadoff, posted the eighth-best 100 back to lead qualifying at the 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Championships.
Murphy has become the most consistent 100-yard backstroker of all time as he now owns five of the top 10 times ever, including two just this week with a 44.60 this morning.

8 44.60r Ryan Lochte Florida Atlanta 3/23/06
10 44.63 Ryan Murphy California 3/27/14
Murphy, the two-time defending champion in the event, will be looking to join a handful of other swimmers to have ever won the event three times. Additionally, he can keep a career sweep possibility intact, something only John Naber did from 1974-77.
3+ 100 Back Winners:
4 – John Naber, Southern California
3 – Clay Britt, Texas
3 – Peter Marshall, Stanford
3 – Yoshi Oyakawa, Ohio State
3 – Jeff Rouse, Stanford
The rest of the field will have to drop some serious time to challenge Murphy this evening. Alabama’s Connor Oslin (45.16), Louisville’s Grigory Tarasevich (45.26), BYU’s Jake Taylor (45.47), USC’s Ralf Tribuntsov (45.62), California’s Jacob Pebley (45.68), NC State’s Hennessey Stuart (45.75) and Ohio State’s Matt McHugh (45.77) closed out the rest of the top eight spots.
