2020 NJCAA National Championships Day 4: IRSC Men, Women Dominate

The 2020 NJCAA National Championships concluded today with the 50 fly, 100 free, 200 back, 200 breast, men’s 1-meter diving, and 400 free relay contested. The championship meet is being held at the Anne Wilder Aquatic Center, in Ft. Pierce, FL.

The IRSC Pioneers continued their winning streak as the men and women both won their respective team championships. Barton finished second in both categories.

Women’s 50 Fly

Emma Colvin of IRSC took home top honours with a time of 24.85. In second place was Anna Hutchins of Southwestern Oregon with a time of 26.12, meanwhile Lizbeth Candenedo of Barton took third place at 26.14. Finishing fourth was Cassandre Zenon of Barton (26.30), with Taryn Dailey of IRSC taking fifth (26.35) and Erifylli Maroutsou of IRSC finishing sixth (26.56). Meaghan Hill of South Georgia (27.59) and Zoe Beals of Iowa Central (28.14) rounded out the championship final.

Men’s 50 Fly

James Camp of Southwestern Oregon took home the title with a time of 21.87. Liam Henry of IRSC swam a time of 22.78 for second place, while Dalton Hammel of Iowa Central finished third at 22.85. John Gill III of Iowa Central took fourth place (22.87), Val Trussov of Iowa Lakes finished fifth (23.05) and Nicholas Fauteux of IRSC (23.06). South Georgia’s Garrett Holton (23.10) and David Garcia of Barton tied for seventh place.

Women’s 100 Free

Camryn Hudson of IRSC finished with top honours at 52.25. Jacqueline Feurtado of Southwestern Oregon took runners-up honours at 52.58, while Kailea Green of IRSC finished third at 53.42. McKayla Siemiller of Barton took fourth place at 53.77, and Mary Marshall of Iowa Central took fifth place at 54.26. Barton’s Sierra Williams (55.25), South Georgia’s Taylor Justice (55.33) and South Georgia’s Aubrey Leonards (57.10) rounded out the championship final.

Men’s 100 Free

Billy Cruz Zuniga of Iowa Central took home the title with a time of 43.71. In second place was Jarryd Baxter of IRSC with a time of 44.91, meanwhile James Camp of Southwestern Oregon finished third (45.29) along with Emile Lutzeler of Iowa Central. In fifth place was Vincent Fletcher of Iowa Central (47.15), and Ryan Downing of Barton finished sixth (47.36). Jaccob Camp of IRSC finished seventh (47.51) and Jacob Bohnert of ILCC (48.10) rounded out the top eight.

Women’s 200 Back

Hannah Kiely of IRSC secured the top spot with a time of 2:03.98. Patricija Ozola took second spot with a time of 2:06.45, Catherine Royden-Turner of IRSC finished third (2:07.16). Aimee Miller of South Georgia finished fourth (2:07.67), Gwendolyn Bencie of IRSC came fifth (2:09.02) and Juliana Van Rodriguez finished sixth (2:16.65). South Georgia’s Kristen Farless (2:16.77) and IRSC’s Alexandra Perez (2:18.25) took seventh and eighth place respectively.

Men’s 200 Back

Jack Oliver of IRSC emerged victorious with a time of 1:49.06. Alejandro Robles Ruiz of Southwestern Oregon finished second at 1:50.16, while Mariano Sosa of Iowa Central came third (1:50.40). Jhon Moncada of IRSC finished fourth at 1:50.50, meanwhile Marco Cabrera Duarte of IRSC finished fifth (1:50.92). Tjeerd Van Stein of Iowa Central came sixth (1:53.72), Aidan Gantenbein of Barton finished seventh (1:57.95) and Mateusz Lukaszczyk of Barton finished eighth (1:59.64).

Women’s 200 Breast

Savanna Best of IRSC finished with top honours at 2:17.39, while Barton’s Fanny Courbot came second at 2:23.18. Emilie Andrin of Iowa Central finished third (2:24.79) and Magali Mouton of Iowa Central came fourth at 2:24.84. Sarah Alderman of IRSC took fifth place at 2:27.44, and Elisa Strepenne took sixth at 2:27.58. Nina Tomic of IRSC finished seventh (2:31.23) and Elizabeth Spitz finished eighth (2:28.09).

Men’s 200 Breast

Olle Williamsson took home the title at 1:57.10, swimming for IRSC. Joshua Smith of Southwestern Oregon finished in runners-up spot (2:00.90), while Aramis Rivera of IRSC finished third at 2:01.58. Brennan Hammond of IRSC finished fourth at 2:03.04, and Christopher Sprenger of Barton finished fifth (2:04.11). Drew Giles of Iowa Central took sixth place (2:06.18) and Ergi Veli of Barton finished seventh (2:08.05), while Christian Taylor of Barton finished eighth (2:08.45).

Men’s 1M Diving

Corey Neas of MCC finished with top honours with a score of 519.45. In second place was IRSC’s Matt Priola with a score of 385.65, while IRSC’s Jake Servaites finished third scoring 366.00. Neko Ferrara of MCC finished fourth scoring 359.30 and Erik Herrero of ECC finished fifth scoring 351.90.

Women’s 400 Free Relay

IRSC’s team of Emma Colvin, Hannah Kiely, Victoria Ortiz and Camryn Hudson emerged victorious with a time of 3:28.58. Southwestern Oregon finished second at 3:35.12, meanwhile Barton finished third at 3:37.49.

Men’s 400 Free Relay

Iowa Central’s quartet of Emile Lutzeler, Vincent Fletcher, Marcelo Busch and Billy Cruz Zuniga finished with top honours at 3:01.65. IRSC took runners-up honours at 3:03.67 and Southwestern Oregon finished third at 3:04.35.
