NEW COMMIT: Xavier University has received their first verbal commitment for the 2020-21 season and beyond from Victor, N.Y. native Erin Ritz.

Primarily a butterflyer and freestyler, Ritz does her club swimming with PACK Swim Team of Pittsford and most recently raced three events at Geneva Futures. Last winter, she registered six top-10 finishes at the Niagara SCY Championships before going on to place 12th in the 1000 free at Ithaca Speedo Sectionals.

Also competing for Victor Senior High School, Ritz is a four-time New York Federation Championship finalist. She placed seventh in the 100 fly and 16th in the 500 free as a junior after finishing 13th in the 200 free and 15th in the 500 free during her sophomore season.

She told Swimming World:

“I am very excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my athletic and academic careers at Xavier University. The resources available to student-athletes are second to none. Coach Brent implements a contagious team culture and I can’t wait to be apart of that! Go Musketeers!”

Her best times include:

  • 100 fly – 55.95
  • 200 fly – 2:08.94
  • 200 free – 1:53.04
  • 500 free – 4:58.83
  • 10000 free – 10:15.96
  • 1650 free – 17:25.03

Even with a year of club swimming still to go before arriving in Cincinnati, Ritz will make an immediate impact as her best times already rank near the top of the Musketeers’ lineup. She would’ve scored in the A-final of the 100 fly and 500 free, B-final of the 200 free and placed top-12 in the mile at the 2019 Big East Championships where Xavier finished second overall in the team standings.
