Wyoming Men’s Class 4A High School State Championships

GILLETTE, Wyoming, March 5. GILETTE, powered by three relay wins, capitalized on the home pool advantage and placed first in the Wyoming Men's Class 4A High School Championships.

The Camels scored 290 points throughout the course of the meet. Laramie picked up second with 253 points while Kelly Walsh compiled a third-place-worthy 189 points.

The 200 medley relay team of Thad Stoddard, Colter Miller, Danny MacDonald and Jon Urman started out the Gillette monopolization of the relays, clocking a time of 1:39.43. MacDonald, Miller, Jimmy Hurley and Andrew Huddleston edged Kelly Walsh in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:30.19. Kelly Walsh got slighted again in the 400 freestyle relay by the Gillette contingent of Urman, Hurley, Huddleston and Stoddard as the Camel men combined for a 3:20.29 time.

Erik Heiss, a Kelly Walsh senior, received the Swimmer of the Meet award for taking first in each of the sprint freestyle events. Heiss clocked a 21.58 50 freestyle and turned in a 47.70 100 freestyle.

Trevor Anderson of Central posted the top time in two events. Anderson touched first in the 200 freestyle (1:46.67) before winning the 500 freestyle (4:58.46) later on in the meet.

Central's Chris Robinson joined Anderson and Heiss in going a perfect two-for-two in individual event performances. Robinson dropped down a 2:00.27 200 IM before coming back after the diving break, winning the 100 butterfly in 52.79.

Billy Hrabovsky from Central nabbed the diving crown with a 442.00 score. Brock Martin of Evanston placed second (413.20) while Malachi Bennett of Kelly Walsh rounded out the top three with a 381.85 score.
