Wyoming Girls 3A/4A High School State Championships

GILLETTE, Wyoming, November 1. JACKSON Hole and Campbell County captured state titles at the 2009 Wyoming Girls High School Championships. In the 3A division, Jackson Hole scored 348 points for first, followed by Lander Valley (238) and Buffalo (149). Campbell County won the 4A division with 357.5 points while Cheyenne Central and Cheyenne East went head-to-head for second. Cheyenne Central came out on top by 1.5 points with a score of 206 while Cheyenne East took third (204.5).

3A Results
Jackson Hole won two of three relays. Emily Smith, Allison Flickinger, Jesse Mayers, and Madeline Thulin finished first in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:56.08. Smith and Mayers also had individual wins. Smith won the 100 freestyle (55.57) and Mayers won the 100 breaststroke (1:10.74).

Sophomore Jessi Anderson (Rawlins) was a dual event winner in the 200 freestyle (2:00.38) and the 100 butterfly (59.46).

Maddy Wigg (Jackson Hole) took first in the 200 IM (2:17.78). She teamed up with Mayers, Thulin, and Jaclyn Knori in the 200 freestyle relay. The group clocked a time of 1:43.94 for the win. Knori also had a first-place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:34.79).

Teammates Amanda Fay, Maryelizabeth Pistono, and Becky Griest (Jackson Hole) had top finishes in the diving competition. Fay won with a score of 364.45 followed by Pistono (338.35) and Griest (326.85).

Jamie Forton, Gwynaedd Howdyshell, Sammy Crawford, and Ruth O'Neal of Lander won the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:45.43.

4A Results
Campbell County won all three relays. Shaya Schaedler, Ashley Ochsner, Brooke Lang, and Haley Hace won the 200 medley relay (1:51.70). Schaedler also had individual wins in the 200 IM (2:07.25) and the 100 backstroke (57.49).

Senior Alyssa Miller (Cheyenne Central) won the 200 and 500 freestyles with times of 1:56.22 and 5:19.47 respectively.

Laramie's Kari Campbell won the diving competition with a score of 374.80. Emily Greer (Evanston) took second (341.35) and Laura Prochnow (Kelly Walsh) placed third (325.85).

Jade Ely of Campbell County took first in the sprint races. She won the 50 (24.63) and 100 freestyles (54.13). She also teamed up with Brenda Bishop, Lang, and Hance for a first-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay (1:40.76).

Morgan Hartigan (Cheyenne East) had individual wins in the 100 butterfly (57.12) and the 100 breaststroke (1:04.81).

Schaedler, Ely, Bishop, and Ochsner closed the meet with a win in the 400 freestyle relay (3:38.74).
