Wisconsin Badgers Get Verbal From Brendan Eckerman of Aquawolves Swimming

NEW COMMIT: The University of Wisconsin – Madison has gained a new verbal commitment for the fall of 2019 from Centennial, Colorado sprinter Brendan Eckerman.

Eckerman swims year-round with Aquawolves Swimming and owns four Winter Juniors qualifying standards. He most recently competed at Juniors West where he achieved five personal bests and placed 22nd in the 200 IM. He earned bronze in the 200m IM with four additional top-10 finishes at Western Zone Seniors last summer after ten second-swims at Colorado LCM Seniors.

Also competing for Cherry Creek High School, Eckerman is a five-time finalist at the Colorado 5A State Championships. He finished second in the 100 free and fourth in the 200 IM as a junior after placing fifth in the 200 IM and tenth in the 100 breast during his sophomore season.

He told Swimming World:

“Super excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic careers at the university of Wisconsin in Madison. I fell in love with the town, the atmosphere, the opportunities, and the family of coaches and athletes that make up the team, and I’m excited for the next four years!”

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 21.35
  • 100 free – 46.07
  • 100 back – 51.24
  • 100 breast – 56.50
  • 200 breast – 2:03.50
  • 100 fly – 51.04
  • 200 IM – 1:49.53

Eckerman would’ve been fifth on Wisconsin’s roster last season in the 100 breast, 200 breast and 200 IM. He’ll add his talents to training groups that include Griffin BackKevin BraunJustin Temprano and Cameron Tysoe.
